One year later, a small catalogue which documents the exhibition and symposium, has
been produced. It consists of two sections: A booklet which contains interviews with
curators, artists and publishers (German and English) plus a zine index which lists all participants of the exhibition.

I recently upgraded my Firefox browser and was promptly introduced to Firefox Personas -- the easy-to-change “skins” for their browser.

What I really like, is that graphic geeks can easily design their own Personas. Once designed and approved by the Personas team, your skin can be used personally, or by other Firefox users if you like.

I found Zeptonn's "Speakercloud" skin. There are thousands of others to choose from. See more at Firefox Personas website.

Czech poet Martin Reiner has a new book out called In the Land of Cannibals. It contains 40 English translations of his poems. The publication is a nice pocket size paperback with poems taken from two previously published books in the U.S. (Where is the Urn?, 2005 and Art Bureau's chapbook, No Through Road, 2007). A dozen more poems have also been added and are being published in English for the first time. The book was published in April 2009 by Druhe Mesto (Second City) out of Bruno, Czech, but you may email Martin for price and shipping info (info [!AT] martinreiner.cz).

After traveling around the United States for the past three and a half years, the Post Typography-curated show, Alphabet: An Exhibition of Hand-Drawn Lettering & Experimental Typography has returned to Baltimore.

All These Projects to Publish

Recently, I traded back issues of Art Bureau for the German art magazine Die Nacht (The Night).

Die Nacht is a compact, 122-page, art digest documenting arts many subcultures. Photography is the main focus, but there are a smattering of illustrations in each issue too.

Perhaps, it is because, I too publish an art magazine, that I kept flipping to the back pages of Die Nacht. Listed with contact information, colorful cover shots and spreads, are other art publications. I was familiar with Sherbert and +81, but Die Nacht has now introduced me to Analog and Wooooo.

I began to wish I had a resource that listed more of these limited-edition art / graphic design publications -- an expanded version of what was being published in the back pages of Die Nacht.

Well, Calin Kruse, the editor of Die Nacht, must have thought the same thing.

Calin is now working on a book about art zines and independent magazines that have a small circulation -- 500-1,500 copies. The book will list magazines about: drawings, paintings, photography, graphic-design, graffiti/street art, art-zine distros and zinefests.

If you publish an art zine or run a zine distro or zinefest, you have until the 15th of November to register it.

Toma Pegata! Sticker Expo (Spain)

Toma Pegata! is the name of a sticker exposition to be held in Logroño (La Rioja, Spain) from October 17 - 31, 2008. We hope to showcase at least 120 artists from all around the world.

The exhibition will be held during Art Week Young and emerging trends in the capital of La Rioja, called "Semana Artefacto."

Our exhibition tent will "roam" around different hot points of the city: City Hall Square, Post Office Square, the School of Arts, College of Design, and the Cultural Center "La Gota de Leche."

There will be two workshops, one for children ages 8 to 16 years, and another for all audiences. We will talk about the sticker movement, create stickers and promote the use of them.

October 17 will be the Opening Party with lunch included, and some musical performances.

The Public Print Lab is an interactive, public-authored art installation in Baltimore, created in collaboration with Justin Blemly. Between March 15 and April 26, 2008, all image files sent by email or cell phone to print [AT] publicprintlab.com will automatically print out in black and white in the Minstallation Gallery at Baltimore's Creative Alliance (see attached photo). The images simultaneously post to the gallery on publicprintlab in real time. At the close of the exhibition, all of the printed images will be collected and bound as a book. Everyone is invited to participate in this project, so please spread the word!

Art Bureau meets Computer Arts Projects

If you've been lurking around your local magazine stand, you would have noticed that THREE Art Bureau artists have graced the pages of UK mags Computer Arts and Computer Arts Projects.

First up was Catalina Estrada in CAP 98. During the same month Zeptonn / Jan Willem Wennekes was featured in their sister publication Computer Arts (July).

Recently, Mulheres Barbadas has made the cover and a poster for Computer Arts Projects - issue 99.

Naturally, we could not pass up the opportunity to have a Q&A session with CAP's Editor Dom Hall. The interview will be published in Art Bureau 16. In the meantime why not pick up a copy of Art Bureau 10, 12 and 14 where these artists were first featured.

Zeptonn has finished illustrating a huge wall drawing in Studio Pats. The mural measures around 4.5 by 2 metres and was drawn over the course of several days. The entire piece is handmade, all drawn with lots of black uni-posca pens. His work was also published in Art Bureau 12.
